These small patches are great if you are using a jag. The brass or nickel jags work best, as the fit is very snug. I've cut the 1 inch patches in half for .22 bores, so these provide a welcome change to that routine. If you are using them with the slotted attachment or with larger calibers, they might be a bit small.As far as the material, I'm seeing very few threads and no lint flying off. No tearing - they are quite strong enough.
