Application Instructions Step 1 Always begin by purifying the lips with the OFF solution. Using a soft cloth or a cotton pad and gently dab lips (never scrub). This will remove any remaining lip products or residue from your lips, as foreign matter will interfere with the performance of LIP-INK Cosmetics. Rinse lips with water and pat dry. Step 2 If lip liner is desired, using the brush provided, frame with LIP INK Color now. If you do not use lip liner, please continue to the next step. Step 3 Massage a small amount of Shine Moisturizer onto the lips until thoroughly absorbed. Step 4 Shake LIP INK Color vial until beads move freely. To relaxed lips, apply the desired color with a gentle even pressure. Repeat the color application twice for a total of three layers, allowing ten seconds for each layer to dry. Finish with a final coat of Shine Moisturizer. A small amount will leave a slight sheen, if blotted a matte finish will be the result. A high gloss can be achieved by a liberal application. This product, Lip Ink colorstain, by far, is one of the best Lip stains that I have tried; I can guarantee you, I've tried almost every brand on the market.Yes, it works better with the complete Lip Ink lip stain system (ie, the pre-lip cleaner(step 1), the wax-free lip maximum hydration (step 2), followed by the application of the lip-stain color (step 3) and finishing with the same wax-free maximum hydration, for shine.Yes, there are approximately 3-4 steps, but following those steps are well worth the longevity of the product on your lips. Since ordering my very first Lip Ink color in Lava Red, I have since ordered a couple more different colors and each color is beautiful. I will also add that this lip stain is buildible lip color (meanining: the more applied, the more intense the color gets).If this or will be your first time ordering, please note that you'll experience a "stinging" or "tingling" sensation as you apply the lip stain. It states in the description that this many occur. I didn't find the "stinging" or "tingling" to be unpleasant, and it only lasted a few seconds inbetween applications. For me, the stinging/tingling actually plumped up my lips (which I view as a bonus).Lip Ink does offer smaller try-me sizes that are quite helpful when deciding on whether or not you want to purchase the full size stain, so I would highly suggest trying those first, if you're unsure about this product. The stinging/tingling only last for several seconds then it goes away. I've also read several negative reviews regarding the "strong smell", which, in my opinion, smells like camphor, and the smell, like the sting/tingling, only last for a few seconds. With the all-day, most times 24+ hour wear, without smearing, smuding, etc, those 2 aspects of this product has not deterred me from ordering more od this product. I intend to purchase the full line, as this lip-stain, in my opinion, is, by far, one of the best lip-stain(s) that I have tried, and plan on continuing to use. For first-time users, do expect a stinging/tingling sensation as well as a "camphor" type smell that does go away after a few seconds.Overall, I love this lip-stain(s). Once you get the "hang of application", plus a word of advice, make sure your lips are peeling (as the finishes will show lip imprefections, make sure that you clean and smooth you lips before application). With all this being said, I can't wait until my new Lip Ink lip-stains arrive!!
