Description
Give your lips the glorious pop of color they deserve with Lip Tar Derelict from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Starting out in 2004 with only a pair of lip balms, 'Tarred' and 'Feathered', Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has greatly expanded their catalog to include a full range of lip gloss colors, airbrush formulas, nail lacquer, 'Lip Tar', and now metallic and matter colors. Being vegan and cruelty free means that their products does not include fillers and unnecessary additives, giving new meaning to the term 'pure pigment'.

I love this color and consistency! Its opaque and "Interlace" is an excellent light color to create an ombre effect to give the illusion of more lip volume. Light colors, like this, are meant to be used on the inner lip, smudged with a darker liner on the outside.I'm fair skinned w/ some olive undertones. My medium/dark complected friend tried this color and it was a "no-go" for them outside of using a tiny smidge for ombre. It seems MAC slightly changed their formula for Myth. Additionally, they are almost always sold out in the store. It has been very hard to find a quality dupe, but this is one.I like this better than any other lipstick because it lasts so long and does not give problems at the water line like so many other lip formulas. At this point, MAC is a close 2nd.There is a slight tendency to be on the drying side, but I'd prefer that to the alternative... moisturizing lipsticks do not last very long or they smudge. This is due to basic laws of chemistry, where watery or greasy substances simple do not stick. The consistency of this product is perfect. The photo shows more pink, but because of the duochrome nature of the lip color, its more a grey-purple on me. Super long lasting and a great formula.I waited a while to get Technopagan, and then after obtaining Black Dahlia and Black Metal Dahlia in the old school OCC tubes, I waited longer for the RTW version to come out. I'm using this with an Etude House Play 101 pencil (#35 dark blue with glitter) so that could be causing some of the dryness that I'm experiencing, but after my Dahlia experiences, I dare not use OCC lip tar without some sort of lip liner as well. The color is *saturated*. Lovely, dark, kind of unforgiving of an unsteady hand. You need to be confident when applying this. I noted that it would have to be reapplied during the day, but honestly, maybe only once after a meal. This lip tar has serious staying power. It has a subtle, minty smell and feels more like a paste than the other lip tars I've used. It's not as runny, but it *will* feather on you.As with the Dahlias, I find that using the "anti-feathered" lip primer as well as a very thin line of concealer around the lips is necessary to avoid feathering further down the line.Treat this lip tar with respect, and it will work wonders for you. I'm knocking one star off for the consistency (which again might be due to my lip liner) and the usual Lip Tar tendency to feather.I love this product- the color is gorgeous, and I love that it stays on so long. My only issue is that it bleeds. I will have to find a lip liner to go with it. Also, a little goes a LONG way! Make sure to use a little at a time. I also use a napkin to take off extra. I will add photos soon.As with lip tars in the tube, the RTW lip tar is best applied with very little product. I scrape the wand as dry as possible before brushing/patting it onto my lips. Whether it is this color or the new RTW delivery method, I get very easy, even coverage and don't get bleeding as with some of the OCC tube colors. Additionally, I don't need a primer to get great color saturation and longevity. And due to the convenience of having a built-in delivery system, I find I use this product much more frequently than I do the OCC tube colors.A significant downside is that, for nearly the same price, the RTW lip tars have less than 1/2 the amount of product as the full-size tubes (0.14 oz compared to 0.33 oz; for comparison, test tubes have 0.08 oz). OTOH, this is the only way to get Sebastian (an amazing color!), and for me the convenience is worth the trade-off in value. If you're not familiar with Sebastian, be sure to look at pictures of the color on a real person before making a decision—it goes on significantly more grey than the mauve that it appears to be in the tube. I'm light-skinned with olive undertones and get compliments on the color very often. I wear it to the office and out after work—it's very versatile. On a darker-skinned person, I think this would make a lovely nude.I've only purchased lip tar directly from OCC's site so was nervous about buying from amazon that it wouldn't be legit or expired or something. These are the real deal and at their sale price without having to meet the $50 minimum for free shipping. The trick to lip tar is to take the applicator out, grab a lip brush and pick up a dot of the product, then use. If you use the applicator, it will be too much product unless you wipe as much of it off back into the tube as you can and use the very little that's left. One tube of lip tar should last you pretty much forever. The other trick, since I've found it DOES transfer and you will need to reapply, is to mix it with something. I mix lip tar and a nude ultra-matte-no-transfer liquid lipstick that I have and love but dries my lips out. The combo works well for me.I have very pale skin and tried Hollywood, but it's very light. Sebastian comes out more purple than gray on me. Structure and Artifact are my absolute favorites.Bought "Grandma" - - I love this brand, and this is a nice color, but it's not great on my skin tone, I was expecting a pinkish color and this is more peachy. I have a very warm skin tone and pink cheeks, so this color doesn't work for me, unfortunately I look like a clown! D:Rats! Out 17 dollars! I'd love to try pagan or black dahlia, but can't justify purchasing a second right away. Maybe one of my friends wants it.Other than the color not going well with my skin tone, the lip tar itself is really nice. It lays on thick, so a little bit goes a long way. It's long lasting and glossy, but doesn't leave your lips feeling sticky (like some lip stains). Great product, awesome company (so sad I can't wear it!)Unfortunately this product contains hemp oil and it was not advertised on the product. My job does not allow us to us or own anything with Hemp Oil in it. It has been given away but I figured I'd give the warning to others
