these work great. use them frequently and are my fav cleaning clothA single patch works fine for .22 caliber. Requires two or more patches to properly clean barrel for larger calibers. I’m not upset, just a note that one should be aware of.Started using Otis a long, long time ago and love their products. These patches are really awesome to use. I have used them on the dirtiest of barrels and they have never disappointed.I have an SKS that I bought about 30 years ago and in the first 2 years I had that rifle, I fired thousands and thousands of rounds through it and never so much as wiped it down. And we are talking the good old corrosive primer ammo that you can't get anymore. And I only added oil as needed to the BCG to keep it running. Just wanted to see how tough the rifle really was and I abused it horribly bad.I had finally decided to tear it down to see how bad it was and I had, ironically, just purchased my first Otis kit 2 weeks before. I tore it completely down to the absolute bare assemblies and separated the barreled action from the stock. And it was understandably filthy.I ran the Otis bore brush through the bore first and laughed at the amount of crud that flowed out of the muzzle. Did the brush only 1 pass and switched to the patches.Otis says you can reuse these patches for a total of 6 passes. And I can honestly say I only used 1 patch on that barrel. I passed 3 times and the chrome lining started shining at that point. After the 6th pass, it wasn't pulling any more crud. Installed a second patch and pulled it through. Nothing. At all. Clean as a whistle.Ever since, I have used Otis exclusively and it delivers as promised. No issues and I know the barrel is absolutely clean afterwards. I have 4 kits and I carry one just for my service firearms. I keep it in my range bag and can clean my revolvers, Glocks, AR's and Remington 870's at the range. These patches are amazing and I will not switch back to the square patches again. These honestly work and can really clean an extremely dirty bore in just a few passes. 100 patches can easily last me a year and a half even with all of the shooting I do. And that is really awesome as it saves space, time and money. These are great patches they wipe well and pretty much fit any caliber. I use them on my AR. However... DO NOT pinch too much fabric into the ring as it WILL get stuck in your barrel. This happened to me (twice ?) I embarrassingly admit. First timer I took to a gun smith and he poked it out with a rifle rod. The 2nd I just stepped on the otis cord and PULLED my heart out. They say you can use each cloth 6 times but if you have a dirty barrel it's more like 3-4... the inserts get opened up and lose integrity and it makes it easy for the patch to break and again... get stuck (happened as well) but I used a rifle rod to push it out.I've since become a master of these patches and have used over 65.... meaning I've done about 3 times the swipes or like 200 swipes through my rifles.I recommend the smaller 2 inch patches as they are less likely to get stuck but these are still great. I always pinch close to the inserts and never use a flimsy patch. I always give it a nice tug to make sure it won't fall off. I also always check how big it clumps up at the base. It should feel like a tiny pebble or whatever. Mind you the bullet that goes through the barrel has a small diameter.Used to clean my 9mm gun.I have both sizes of these Otis cleaning patches. The design feature makes even distribution of cleaning/lubricating liquids a mindless endeavor, one where you do not have to be concerned with uneven coverage within the barrel. They are a bit pricier than bulk square patches, but cost/benefit is an end user decision that oftentimes has differing criteria amongst each person. Also, the literature indicates that each patch is suitable for up to six cleaning passes, but that has not been my experience. Here again, though, each of us may have a different perspective on cleaning. I prefer not to continue passing a dirty patch through my barrel. That said, I will typically use each patch for two passes - once on each clean side of the patch.Protect your 2nd ammendment rights. When only crooks & Politicans have guns, you’re in trouble!Otis has a great cleaning system. Pulling a wad of patch through the bore is the way to go. Nearly impossible to screw up and it wipes the bore with good pressure. You CAN get six pulls out of a patch if you're REALLY careful. I get a little extra use out of each one by punching a small hole in a regular patch and covering this one to get the initial heavy debris out of the barrel.Otis recommends doubling up patches on larger calibers to fill the bore. What a great way for them to sell twice as many patches! My method works just fine and I usually get a barrel spotless using a single patch. These are slightly overpriced for what they are, but I'll continue to use them because the quality is good.Very expensive for what they are, and having to fold them in the right place to suit each calibre, just a time consuming pain in the neck!Great high quality patches, perfect to keep your Otis cleaning kits stocked up! Little expensive for 100 patches but then again the claimed 6 cleans per patch basically gets you a bag of 600! Only tried 2 cleans each side per patch, but only AFTER most the copper is removed. I don't shoot a whole lot so rifle usually stays fairly clean & doesn't use up much patches. Not sure how some were getting patches stuck in barrel? Pretty easy to see if swab is sized close to your caliber. Using on .308 WIN but I'm actually pinching near .45cal mark which I find is perfect fit. As always, no issues with Amazon & very fast shipping! Will surely buy more as the need arises! These are not what I typically use, but I bought them to go with the Otis cleaning kit I purchased as well. They work perfectly cleaning the barrel once you get use to properly positioning and folding them. My only complaint comes when cleaning the trigger group or chamber, they seem to snag and shred apart like a cotton ball leaving lint behind too easily. My local gun shop didn't have any (although they continue to sell the kits)-delivery was fast-I used these Otiscleaning parches for a few years now as (with the cable in the lit) they pull up the barrel from he breech ratherthan having to use a rod (use it with a brush for the initial cleaning of the bore) with patches. These patches are in the higher price range but are convenient. Each can be used six times for a 12 gauge shotgun. Buying via Amazon saves money versus buying from a store. I use these when I run out of homemade patches but like to keep them in my cleaning kit because they are so convenient.
