This seems like a nice quality bareback pad that is comfortable for the rider. However there is relatively no withers clearance so not comfortable for the horse if they have any withers. Definitely seems like it would be comfortable, though, for A horse with the right body type.Comfortable. The handle where the horn traditionally is is way too close to the crotch, and the stirrups slip right off if you put pressure on them at all. What a nice ride. I use a saddle blanket under the pad just to keep it clean and fresh. I took the stirrups off to work on my balance and it's perfect. The cinch is weird so I just use a regular, cotton string cinch. My husband burned new holes in the straps which was a hard project. My horse is a small Quarter Horse at 14.2 hands high so the girth was way too big. I would recommend this bareback pad if you can deal with trying to add holes to the straps and if you can switch to a different cinch.I have a 8yr old 16h gelding he has some draft in him and is on the large end of average horses and the girth was to big and I had to add holes to tighten it up. But it’s very sturdy good quality and made well. I was walking him with just the pad on and it slipped back quite a bit (ie second picture) but I’ll see how it does actually riding in it.Feels like good quality, but functionality falls a little short for me. The cinch does not get it tight enough to use the stirrups to get on from the ground (which you shouldn’t do anyway really) but also if you put any weight in the stirrups it slips bad. Replace the cinch or remove the stirrups. Otherwise it’s really nice.It seemed great at first, but no matter how tight I put the girth it kept loosening and coming off, and I even made extra holes and it still would come loose, and the whole pad would slip off. The stirrups kept slipping off and eventually just broke.. so I would not recommend buying this item. The pad itself was a nice pad but the stirrups are too far forward and they are attached to the pad so you can move them using a sewing machine. The stirrups are small more like for English riders.this is very well made, but the gift recipient wanted one without stirrups, so I can't comment on how the horse felt about it.
