Not worth the moneyA protective and healing serum, 'Derma Treatments Energising Hydration Vitamin Serum 30 ml' normally retails at a substantially higher price than that at which it is currently offered by some.Major ingredients include vitamin E, aloe vera which is a frequent ingredient in many hand creams, skin care products and others, and allantoin which is used in many formulations. Vitamin E is counter-indicative to a number of drugs, most specifically warfarin. Although normally taken orally, Vitamin E can dramatically reduce warfarin's efficiency and result in the formation of blood clots. Whether vitamin E is equally reactive when used on the skin may be a question for warfarin users to raise with their GP or consultant. For the majority of users, there need be no such concerns. The serum is pleasantly fragranced with some lemon and geranium most noticeable, if rather short-lived once applied, and provides limited UV protection although it does not claim a specific SPF strength. The moisturising and anti-inflammatory effects of aloe vera and the skin repairing abilities of allantoin which is used in a great many medically prescribable creams and ointments as well as several over-the-counter alternatives for various skin conditions also apply. Additionally, many plant and seed oils and various other botanical extracts are included of which some provide fragrance and other benefits. A 'pea-sized' amount is suggested which, thanks to its small bead, may suggest a small pile of that volume or an 8-10mm length although the size of the area to which it is to be applied may be a relevant consideration. It was the short bead which was used but comprehensive usage advice would be welcomed.Supplied in a pre-pierced tube to ensure accurate dispensing, it is clear and seemingly colourless, has a medium-thick consistency, is easy to dispense and apply, and a little goes a very long way. Others from the range are specified for face, neck, hands etc but this is not and you may wish to use it where deemed necessary. That may depend on the work you do and pastimes in which you participate, how exposed you may be to harsh winds or environments and how your skin reacts to those situations. Outdoor activities such as rock climbing, cross-country running or cycling could be situations that may require its use. If prone to minor skin abrasions to shins, knees or elbows due to falls or grazes, it may help with those but use on portions of the face and possibly the hands will be most users' choices. For general daily use, it helped improve skin tone and condition by providing good moisturisation. If the serum works for you, it may be worth purchasing an additional tube or two while the current discount applies. If purchased direct from the manufacturers, you will pay the standard retail price of £77 for one and the tube is quite small! At standard pricing, there may be a tendency to use it frugally and the purchase may involve greater consideration; at current pricing, it is very affordable and its use less considered and more generous.
