I previously purchased a heavy duty mat in the $50 range from my locale office supply, but the chair rollers would sink down into the mat each time I sat in the chair more than 5 minutes. My carpet is the top of the line Stain Master, it is not a shag, but it is deep and soft. This chair mat was considerably more expensive than I planned, but I really needed a better mat than my old one. When the mat arrived it was easy to see that it was much thicker than my old mat. I am very pleased with this mat. With my old mat I had to lift my chair to get out of the pothole formed by the chair wheels. With this mat a gentle push gets me rolling. it was well worth the money.
